Relationship With God

God's creative powers are fundamental to our effort of developing a relationship with Him. There are aspects of God's Divine nature; we human will never fully comprehend. The notion that each of us holds the Divine within us, and that we have a spiritual nature along with our humanity, is not new. But most of us don't have a method for developing our spiritual capacities. COGDisciples.org wants you to develop a personal relationship with God.

Relationship with God provides a system for our soul growth. Our minds can be a link to His Spirit while we grow in obedience to His wisdom, love, His strength, faith, imagination, order, understanding, will, power, zeal, release, and life itself. We can paint the life we want by focusing on, understanding, and cultivating these spiritual powers.

FAITH

Faith in the God of creation blesses our day and paves your way.

Faith is not an abstract belief in the word of God, or a simple assent of the understanding and will; nor is it a passive acceptance of facts. Faith is a complete acceptance and conviction, a divine illumination implanted by the Word of God in the human soul.

Each of us needs "the saving faith that results in forgiveness of sin and salvation of the soul." God's word is the seed that increases our faith in an uncertain world. It's essential that we remain steadfast in difficult times, armed with the tools and weapon to counter the attacks- while relying on God to navigate the choppy waters.

Whatever consumes your mind controls your life. Don't focus on your adversaries. Focus on God's possibilities. Keeping your eyes on God, when the world around you is falling, requires True Faith in God.

Instead of been loss in unending thoughts, we can instead focus on asking God to increase our understanding. As we discover His love and care for us, and commune with Him, the more we will become like Him. As you grow in your relationship with Him, the better you will understand His sufficiency for all of your difficulties.

FINDING LIFE'S MISSION

Every one of us searches for our purpose, as we live from one day to the next. But often our search has led us in the wrong places. We just won't identify our true purpose, by achieving higher education or deciding on a certain association. You can only find God's intent for your life in God's word.

Have you ever thought of how much God can use all the gifts and talents he has given you? God gave His direction and instructions and revelation of His deity throughout the records of the Bible. He wants to give you yours too, as you read His word. There are different ways and means He uses to impart His word into your life. If you are like many who only open your Bibles, on special occasions or certain season of the year; you will never really discover God's purpose for your life. COGDisciples.org invites you to make the Bible your companion. Discover the love, patience and infinity of God your father. Spend time reading; grasp a clear understanding of His will for your life.

Did you know God loves you, and as such created you with an inner desire to search into the mystery of His infinite wisdom? St John 3:16 affirms, God so love the world that He gave His son as the redemptive price for our transgression. Romans 7:24-25 KJV O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I I serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

REVEALING OUR SINFULLNESS

After desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin. James 1:15(NIV) sin grows and if remain uncheck, it will gain strength in your life. Sin hidden in our lives leads to eternal death. But God has made provision to reveal the hidden sins in our hearts; through His revealing word.

GUARD YOUR MIND

Proverb 4: 23 – Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Philippians 4: 8 – Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about those things.

Romans 12: 2 – Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 4:7 – and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3: 2 – set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on the earth.

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:17 – and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.

2 Corinthian 10: 4-5 – for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 1 John 1: 8 – if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Strength for Your Battle

Through faith in Christ, we are given a spirit of power, love, and discipline, and for that reason, we have nothing to fear. We can hold onto His promises and be confident that He will see us through. When the battles of life close in around you and you feel surrounded, turn to the one whose infinite mercies sustain you. He wants us to open our eyes view beyond the things of this world to see Him at work. As the problems of this world squeeze you down, turn to Him for hope and encouragement.

Seek strength from the Divine to accomplish all that is yours to do. Follow Jesus' wisdom for making right judgments. Be guided by divine wisdom in every thought, word, and action.

Wisdom the blend of knowledge from the head and heart.

Let Your Light Shine

One of the faculties most prized by Jesus was the gift of wisdom, or spiritual judgment … Always he pointed to the importance of judging by the standards of the higher self, rather than by the example set in the world.

Never did he react to any person or any situation with the expected response of human living. Always he acted and spoke from the light within himself, the light that enabled him to judge by spiritual methods, to answer from divine insight into the motives of others, the potentiality of good, and the revelation of the Christ within.

His judgment and His wisdom went far beyond the perception, knowledge, and judgment of even the most learned men of the day, because His faculty was developed by a conscious acquaintance with the source and a desire to express the wisdom of the Spirit.

INNER SPIRITUAL KNOWING

As we follow Jesus in developing our God-given potential, we, too, must learn to ‘judge with right judgment" and to turn to inner spiritual knowing. We cannot afford to allow ourselves to be caught up in judging according to appearances, making decisions based simply on intellectual knowledge, or accepting limiting concepts constantly presented to us by the worldly viewpoint.

Shining a light from within

The three disciples who were with Jesus on particularly significant occasions in His life were peter, representing faith and the brothers James and John, standing for wisdom and love. Faith, wisdom, and love must be brought into everything you do. Wisdom without love is cold. But love without wisdom is misguided and impetuous. Wisdom, the highest form of spiritual knowing, includes divine judgment, discrimination, intuition, and other activities of mind that come under the heading of pure knowing.

HANDLING TRIALS AND PERSECUTIONS

What has been your solution and response when faced with disappointment, disaster and despair? When you accede to God's grace and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are born again into the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit then comes to dwell in you, and confirms your relationship with God. (Romans 8:16). "All things work together for good to them that love God. (Romans 8:28) God wants to perform His supernatural work of transforming you, His child, into the image of His son, Jesus Christ. Test and trials are the means He uses to mature your faith and develop your character. When you respond to trials in the grace of God, you will experience the power of God's Spirit which will be manifested in your life. (1 Peter 4: 12-13) "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trials which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, in as much as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings;

that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy". Your test is opportunities for you to grow spiritually. Unlike our usual state of despair, glory in your infirmities so that the power of Christ can rest upon you. 11Corinthians 12:9) We glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. (Romans 5:3-5)

Unless you accept God's grace to deal with suffering, inevitably you will become bitter. However, if you trust God to reveal His purposes through the sufferings you are encountering, you can escape the trap and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.

OVERCOMING, ENDURING AND FORBEARING

Being thankful in a difficult situation is the most challenging experience we will face in life. To be thankful instead of complaining demands a conscious response of our will, and a sacrifice of our natural desires. Human as we are, most of us respond with murmuring and complaining when we face difficulties whether there be-emotional, spiritual, mental or physical. But it's through the tests of life, that god worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say rejoice" (Philippians 4: 4) God wants us to be sad and joyful at the same time. We cannot escape the discomforts of our many difficult situations, but we can rejoice in the midst of our situations; for-knowing the good things God will do through our sufferings.

When you experience trials- choose to place your trust and hope in God's ability to relieve you of your sufferings. Growing in an intimate knowledge of Christ exceeds the value of worldly possessions. Developing stronger Godly-like character is more fruitful than esteeming your own ways. Let's act on the word of God. We must emulate Jesus' example and engage in spiritual warfare by proclaiming truth in the face of tests and temptations. It is evident that God's true purpose, for allowing us to experience the difficulties of life, is to bring us to firmly conclude that we need God. His desire is for us to allow Him, to work powerfully through our lives until we learn to depend upon Him.

CHARACTER TRANSFORMATION

"I count all things but loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ…That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, been made conformable unto His death" (Philippians 3: 8-10)

Prayer for everyday life

Daily prayer maintains one's thoughts and keep you focused on the things that god wish for you to accomplish. A positive attitude, achieved through daily prayer, also makes us feel at peace and more confident in ourselves, which ultimately leads to a hope in God. Prayer is our conversation with God. It's an opportunity for us to develop a personal relationship with our maker. To explore ways in which He can perform miracles in our lives.
